Rugby Classic on March 21, 2015. The Classic honors a fallen Youngstown police officer, Michael T. Hartzell, who was tragically killed in the line of duty.

This year's tournament will have an open division for men as well as one for women and be a double-elimination 15s tournament. Teams are guaranteed three games to ensure that teams eliminated after two matches receive a consolation match. Though teams are guaranteed three matches, they will be slightly shortened, consisting of two 20-minute halves, rather than the standard 40-minute halves. Each match will allow rolling substitutions as well.

Steel Valley will be taking over the Mill Creek Metroparks' Wick Recreation Area  for the day to hold the event so they can run three fields for the tournament.

The Classic is intended to provide opportunities for DIII and DII teams to get some tune-up matches in prior to the Spring seasons starting back up. The teams from DIV that participate can prepare for their playoff runs or get into the Spring season and testing their clubs against the higher-division competition.

Food and beverages will be provided for teams once they are eliminated, and all tournament participants are welcome to participate in the post-competition bar crawl - Rugby Invasion II Bar Crawl Post Tournament Social.

Entry fees for teams will be $300.00 a team. If a club participated in the team's previous tournament, the Thomas “Chris” Smythe Memorial 10s tournament, the fee will be reduced to $250.00

Steel Valley's tournaments have a habit of filling up, so it's best to reserve a spot for your team while you still can. Registrations are due by March 11, 2015. Payments can be made by check or PayPal.
