Maddogs Back on Track After Victory in Youngstown

The Canton Maddogs Rugby team secured its first league win of the 2015 Fall season over the weekend when they traveled east into rival territory in Youngstown to play Steel Valley RFC. The Maddogs played a hard 80 minutes and worked their way to a 48-31 victory.
"Youngstown always brings their A game against us," Mullane said. "They brought it today. They scored quickly and took the early lead, but we weren't going to back down either. The boys played inspired, and we were able to chip away at their lead and finally pull away with it. It was a great win against a strong league team."
Scoring tries for the Maddogs were Scott Hills, Ian Kell, Will Walmsley, George Allen and Mike Regimbal. Team Captain Gabe Mullane had was nearly perfect off the tee and converted four of his team's five tries. Mullane slotted all five of the penalty opportunities presented to his team as well.

"The team fought hard today to secure our first league win and put us back on track," said Head Coach Dan Sturtz. "We are off this week, but we will still look to build on this victory when we host NCWV on October 3."
