The rugby community spans all ages, and at every level there is the opportunity for growth. The Canton Rugby Club is helping to empower and educate the young players in the area with its Youth Skills Clinics.

Canton Rugby Club will be taking over the Hall of Fame Fitness Center's indoor field located at on Sunday January 17 and 31, as well as and February 14 and 28. Each session will go from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

"We encourage boys and girls from all of Stark County, ages 12 and up to attend this clinic and learn more about the sport of rugby," Chris Orr, the team's Press Secretary, said in a press release. "Attendees will experience fun, fast-paced drills and games, fundamental rugby skills and learn the importance of teamwork in rugby."

The clinics will also allow interested players to sign up for the 2016 Canton Middle School Rugby Sevens League and the  Stark County High School 15s Team. The sevens league includes teams from Hartford, Dover, Oakwood and Edison. The 15s team will compete against teams in the Northeast Ohio Rugby League during the spring.

In order to ensure that any interested potential player can attend, the clinics are being provided free of charge.

"The Canton Rugby Club's mission is to introduce the sport of rugby to the area, grow the sport through youth programs in the Greater Stark County community and ensure that every area student has the opportunity to take part and experience the game of rugby," Orr said. "[These] are the main purposes of the clinics held every year."
