RRC Setting Up for Fall Season

As summer winds down, competitive schedules are starting to come out. Such is the case for Rookie Rugby Cleveland. Known for its established spring season, RRC is offering competitive opportunities for teams this fall. The upcoming season will be divided into two four-week sessions, the first of which will offer s little something new for the teams involved.

The first set of matches will take place from September 11 to October 2. What makes this first session special is that Rookie Rugby will be taking the show on the road. The first two weekends' matches will take place at Saint Ignatius High School, while the third weekend will take place on the South Side location and the fourth weekend will happen on the East Side. The venues for these two off-site weekends haven't been decided yet, but details are being set and everything will be announced soon.

Regardless of location, there will be matches for players from kindergarten to eighth grade, for boys and girls. Each weekend the teams in the K-4 League will take place from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. The 5-6 League will follow, going from 3:00pm to 4:00pm. The 7-8 leagues will round out the competitive days with the girls going first, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm and the boys going from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Once league details are ironed out, detailed schedules will be set.

The second set of matches will go from October 23 to November 13. All of these matches will be held at Saint Ignatius High School.

The match schedule for the the second session will go as follows:

  • K-4: 1:00pm to 2:15pm
  • 5-6: 2:15pm to 3:30pm
  • 7-8 Girls: 3:30pm to 4:45pm
  • 7-8 Boys: 4:45pm to 6:00pm

As always, the players from kindergarten up to sixth grade will play flag rugby, while the tackling for the boys and girls will start in the seventh and eighth grade leagues.

The cost to play in this season will be $75.00 per session. Those who participate in both will receive a discount on the second session.
